Message from Head of School
Welcome to The Montessori Children's House of Hyde Park!
Thank you for your interest in The Montessori Children’s House of Hyde Park.
When I was 18, I read a book called “Education for a New World” by Dr. Maria Montessori Reading that book changed my life!
Over 20 years ago, I founded The Montessori Children’s House of Hyde Park. My dream was for it to be the perfect Montessori house. In my training to be a Montessori teacher, I was struck with this overwhelming reverence for the young child, and what those small children could teach me. I am absolutely convinced that a Montessori education is the best gift we can give our children.
It does take a special type of person to be trained in the Montessori Method of education – it is not a typical teacher training program. The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) is now 75 years old and nearly 100 years since Maria started her first Casa de bambini (Children’s House). It’s an approach that still reaches the Universal Child today!
Research continues to support Dr. Montessori’s conviction that the years from birth to age 12 are the most critical. At our School, we strive to provide an education for life, as they move from one developmental stage to the next. Our students, when graduating from our 6th grade program are prepared for success in life – academically, socially and emotionally.
Creating the Montessori Children’s House of Hyde Park was a way I could bring my own experiences, training and ideals to make a very special place for our students and our staff. The energy and love of learning that I see in all of the children and staff never ceases to amaze me. I rarely hear anyone crying in the driveway because they don’t want to come to school. In fact, we have created an environment that children want to be a part of and where they enjoy their learning experience.
We would welcome the opportunity to serve your child during the most important time in his or her life. Please contact us to tour our school and observe our children working, playing and learning.
