Celebrating the Centenary - One Hundred Years of Montessori At our Earth Day Celebration on April 13 the tile wall project and the 100 squares banner will be on display. Our school is celebrating the centenary in a number of ways. We walked in the Gasparilla Children's parade on January 20. The elementary children and parents had a lot of fun throwing beads and seeing past students in the crowd. Ms. Slaven's class made our lovely banner for the parade. We are also making a banner with 100 squares to display permanently in the school. Students from all of the classrooms are creating the squares which all relate back to the number 100. A tile wall is also being created for our lunch area under the supervision of parent Elise Della Rocca. Several staff members traveled to San Francisco in February to attend the Association Montessori Internationale Conference. San Francisco is where Maria Montessori introduced her method of education to America at the1915 World's Fair in a glass classroom set up for the public to watch the students and teachers.
